When I went to Godiva Chocolates this week, they were offering 25% off for Family & Friends Promo on all their product. On top of their product pages, it also features a 20% Discount Banner (by using the word "WELCOME" on your 1st purchase.
I proceeded to type in the code word.... but the prompt then says before you can do that, you need to Sign In or Create an Account.... I did that by entering my personal info. I then proceed to enter the code and the message states "Sorry" Not Applicable...
Cannot combine promos. Now why would this be? I didn't go looking for the extra 20% off.... The Banner on top of the product page kept flashing this....
And if I couldn't use the addl promo code with this item that was already on sale, why would Godiva be asking me to Create an Account when they knew full well that I could not use it???? When I contacted Customer Service, they just didn't want to hear it and just stated that this was the policy... They could not answer my questions as to why they would promote an additional 20% Promotion on your 1st purchase when they know that it cannot be used since everything was on sale... Then when I explained that I felt deceived into giving my info and asked for my account to be deleted...
they said that I had to write a separate email requesting this since they cannot do so. Terrible Policies!!!!

20 years of being a Godiva customer. Why?
Honestly for a luxury chocolatier brand, the representatives at the store and customer service are bitter and hostile. In Godiva's eyes the customer is always wrong.
There is no leniency, Customer Loyalty appreciation, etc.
I love the product, but I refuse to support a company who treats me so poorly. And it's really been going on for years.
When they had stores one time my husband walked in to get me a gift. There was a tray of truffles ( with no Dome cover) on top of the glass cases and he took one thinking they were a sample. The associate chastised him and told him he was putting those in the case and they cost $2.50 each.
Absolutely appalling.
So I was already put off by the brand. But I still loved their candy. When they closed the shops in the malls I bought a box of mixed assortment, but didn't open them right away. By the time I did I noticed that they were all spoiled.
I called customer service and because I had exceeded the 30 day window she wouldn't do anything for me. I told her this was outrageous and I had been a customer for over 15 years.
She said there was nothing she could do and hung up on me.
I mean if that's how they feel about their customer loyalty, it was so off-putting that I would not spend a nickel at Godiva going forward.
So if you like the product keep buying it. I can find another chocolatier who will value my loyalty and give me some respect when they take my money.
I have never been so mistreated by a company so many times.

July 9th, 2021 I called the Godiva.com customer service to let them know that I received a box of chocolates that reached the best by date of June 2021 and Asked if I can exchange it for a fresh box because I dont want to eat expired chocolates and let the customer service representative know that the store manager had okayed the return and then COVID happened and the stores shut down. So I asked if she would be willing to honor the store managers approval of exchanging this box of chocolates for the exact same box with a later best by date And instead of being understanding, professional, and helpful She started to argue with me telling me it was my fault i didnt exchange it sooner and she cannot replace it regardless what the store manager said and started to raise her voice and ended up hanging up on me!

Ive been a customer of Godiva for 15 years and this is how they treat me! I was not even asking for a refund just simply a box of chocolate that are not expired.
User's recommendation: Stay away and go to Chuao chocolates! Best service and best tasting chocolates!
